The Organisation

The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) is Scotland’s environmental regulator.  We are a non-departmental public body, accountable through Scottish Ministers to the Scottish Parliament.

We protect the environment and human health through the work of 1,300 employees based at 22 offices across Scotland.

The NetRegs and VIBES team has responsibility for encouraging good environmental practice to businesses through a number of initiatives.  There is a strong focus of delivering work in partnership with other organisations.

NetRegs (www.netregs.org.uk) provides free plain English, web based, sector specific guidance on environmental compliance and improvement to small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs). SEPA leads and manages the project and develops and delivers the service in partnership with Northern Ireland Environment Agency.

SEPA is looking for support for NetRegs from an intern who will help raise awareness of the website and the additional features that have been developed, such as the e-learning tools, compliance self-assessment and the mobile app.

Key tasks during the placement are :

  • To develop a marketing strategy that will raise awareness of NetRegs website to SEPA staff.
  • To support the implementation of an external and internal marketing strategy
  • To take responsibility for the NetRegs Twitter account over the period of the placement

  • To take responsibility for the NetRegs LinkedIn account over the period of the placement

  • To assist with the monthly email update for NetRegs

  • As required to attend events or visits to promote NetRegs at colleges and universities.

The role will involve routine travel to different locations across Scotland and possibly Northern Ireland with occasional overnight stays.  All expenses for business travel and subsistence will be covered.

  • Strong communication skills with people at all levels
  • An excellent standard of written English
  • Ability to work as a team as well as being self-motivated
  • Good organisation, project planning and time management skills
