Background

Midlothian Council are looking for a veteran, or family members and wives of veterans, to work as Event and Project Officer within the the Resource Department to develop the income stream for Vogrie Country Park.

Role

This successful candidate will support the Land and Countryside Manager to:

·         Create a project management system to record event activity in the country park

·         Create procedures for recording event activity and income generation

·         Create a booking system for events and train staff to use it

·         Create a spreadsheet to record income generation

·         Train staff to enable them to use the booking procedures

 

The role will involve the development and promotion of existing services as well as exploring the potential of new Country Park facilities.

 

The role will involve creating and implementing systems and procedures to promote the park. The post holder will be required to produce and implement a promotional strategy.

 

Additionally, the candidate will be required to develop booking systems for different facilities in the Country Park and develop web pages i.e. for large events such as, concerts, it’s a knock out.

 

The candidate will also explore potential for developing Vogrie Country Park’s facilities. For example, introducing an assault course, developing the existing 9 hole Golf Course, barbecue and shelters and the flexi field.

 

The intern will be required to administer contractors to undertake minor works within the park in liaison with management and parks staff. i.e. fencing work, installation of signage etc.

 

The Candidate

The candidate must be able to effectively communicate and liaise with key stakeholders including management and park staff. Events management experience is desirable. It is essential that the candidate has strong organisational skills. Good IT skills are essential as the candidate will be required to use Microsoft Office and develop website resources. Marketing and promotion knowledge is needed.
