Valentin Jeanjean - Campus Cycling Officer at UWS
Valentin Jeanjean, while on placement, helped improve facilities and services at the University of West of Scotland. He focused on widening the promotion of cycling and its benefits through a range of organised events. His aim was to help the campus achieve the Cycle Friendly Campus Award which they received in the summer 2017.
Before his placement, he graduated with a degree in International Business in France. Valentin now works for Cycling Scotland as a Development Officer on the Cycle Friendly Campus programme.
"My time as Campus Cycling Officer has been a truly enriching experience. I have acquired a number of skills ranging from communication, design, student engagement and fundraising."
"Our Cycling Intern position is a truly valuable resource; the additional support provided made a significant difference to the range of cycling activities we are able to deliver at UWS, including: led cycle rides, cycle training, night-time cycle rides, electric bike showcases and inspirational keynote speaker events. The university’s ambition is to achieve Cycle-friendly Campus status to highlight the positive work we have already undertaken and to attract even greater buy-in from our student and staff cohorts. With the support of Cycling Scotland and our Intern we are confident that this will be realised in 2017".
