Kickstart your career in the environmental sector

The increased interest in environmental issues has led to more investment from organisations in areas such as sustainable development and renewable energy, therefore creating new job opportunities.

If you are a student looking to get into the environmental sector here are some helpful tips.

LEARN

There are a lot of diverse careers in the environmental sector. You need to be able to present yourself as an authority on one or more topics. Some examples include plastic waste and pollution to energy efficiency and sustainable travel. Doing your research and showing a passion for one or more of these topics is key. Demonstrate that you stand out from the crowd by showing you have done something beyond just your studies and that you truly care about current key issues.

We recommend volunteering, joining a society, focussing your university research on topics that interest you, and taking part in an environmental placement.
