Stepping stones is an employability skills programmed offered by Bright Green Business for pupils in Primary 6 or 7

Stepping Stones is an education programme targeted at P6 and P7 pupils to help in a successful transition from primary into secondary school. This interactive workshop will encourage the understanding of different careers and hope to raise aspirations and widen opportunities. Pupils will complete 2 hands-on challenges before considering how the skills used are related to employment. Skills highlighted include team building, communication, problem solving, reflection and analysis. There will also be an employer talk and a chance to ask questions.

The workshop speaks to ambitions of ‘How Good Is Our School’ such as employer engagement, raising aspiration and meeting the skills gap.

Schools are required to complete a pre evaluation assessment so that the activities can be tailored appropriately to the pupils who will be taking part.

Schools can choose 2 of the following 4 activities:

  •   Make a balloon bottle car
  •   Zip wire rescue
  •   Beaver Dam Construction (outside space preferable)
  •   Wildlife ABC (outdoor space required)

We will look at the different skills required by employers, such as :

  • Problem solving
  • Communication
  • Team working
  • Organisation
  • Resilience

Sessions will usually last half a day but for large groups (for examples, multiple classes)  the workshop can run for the full day.
