Student & Graduate Placements

Bright Green Business can help your company or organisation hire a student or graduate to work on a short term project. A placement is a fantastic way to engage with some of Scotland’s brightest, most dynamic students and graduates who can help move your business forward. 

Our programmes run all year round and our network reaches out to students and graduates from universities and colleges across the country (and beyond) allowing you to harness their skills through a structured placement.  Our placements are usually between 8 and 12 weeks long depending on your requirements and we are able to accommodate longer placements as required. 

All our placements are low risk, flexible and an excellent way for you to engage with prospective new employees.
It is an opportunity to bring in new skills, a fresh outlook and limitless enthusiasm to help your business succeed.
A placement is a chance to find much needed additional support or to take forward new projects.

Our programmes 

Our placements are aimed at helping advance any project that has lacked time or resources.

We run the Environmental Placement Programme (EPP), a programme that places candidates to work on projects that have an environmental focus. An EPP placement can help you implement an environmental management system, engage with stakeholders on environmental issues, draft a sustainability plan, measure your carbon footprint or get your staff cycling to work. This is our flagship programme, unique to Scotland and attracting some of the best students and graduates wanting to develop their career in the environmental sector.

Through the Early Career Programme, we can accommodate other types of placement projects. These placements can in any area or sector that you need support in, this can including marketing, events, IT and engineering. 

We are pleased to be working alongside key partners including the Scottish Government, the Big Lottery Fund, Cycling Scotland and Midlothian Council.

The Process

We will help you put together a project specification and advertise it between two to four weeks on a variety of different websites and social media platforms. We sift and match candidates according to their knowledge, skills and experience. We then put together a shortlist of candidates who fit your requirements and then it’s over to you to interview and select the candidate that is the best fit for your organisation.

Bright Green Business tries to keep things as simple for you as possible. We arrange interviews, organise contracts and payroll and provide support throughout their placement.

The Cost

The cost varies depending on the size of your business or organisation. The price includes a Scottish Living Wage allowance, paid directly to the candidate, and covers all our recruitment services including advertising, shortlisting, contracts and payroll.
